Cheers! Harbour Bar image features in RDS exhibition
Bray’s historic Harbour Bar in Bray will form part of a series immortalising the country’s vintage pubs which will feature at Gifted – The Contemporary Craft and Design Fair in the RDS this week.
Roger O’Reilly is intent on capturing the atmosphere of some of Ireland’s oldest and most iconic pubs before they call time for good.
“Pubs are an important part of our built heritage but some are in danger of disappearing,” said Roger.
“We have a wealth of wonderful pubs in Ireland, from the ornate Victorian gems of Dublin and Belfast to more modest establishments such as Morrissey’s in Abbeyleix, and I want to capture them and their character before they are lost forever.
“McDaids in Dublin is known for its literature whereas Danny Macs in Dingle is famous for its music.
“Each of these pubs have their own intrinsic value to both local and the wider community.”
Roger of Irelandposters.ie specialises in travel posters in the style of railway advertisements from the thirties.
Roger, who has worked on storyboards for clients such as Coca-Cola and Diageo as well as the TV series ‘Vikings’ has also created posters of many of the 90 lighthouses around the Irish coast.
