Good as Gold: Wicklow’s Tidy Town victory honoured with special reception

Wicklow Tidy Towns Group Gold Medal win in the national Tidy Towns competition was honoured this week.

The fantastic achievement was marked by a Cathaoirleach’s Reception in the town on Monday (Feb 24th) arranged by Wicklow Municipal District.

Wicklow won a Gold Medal in Category E (population of 5,001 to 10,000) and was also named “1st in County” in the SuperValu Tidy Towns competition last year.

The results achieved by the Wicklow Tidy Towns Group have been remarkable, going from Bronze to Silver and now to Gold over the past three years.

Commenting on their win, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow Municipal District, Cllr Shay Cullen, said: “Your passion, hard work and dedication have led you to this success.  Your approach to inclusivity and community involvement has brought about huge benefits to the town in terms of fostering a sense of pride and building community spirit.  I wish to congratulate each and every one of you here today on your remarkable achievements and for giving of your free time so selflessly for the betterment of the town.”
