Lights, camera, action! €3m plan for new film enterprise hub at Wicklow Campus
Wicklow County Council is seeking €3m to create an enterprise hub at Wicklow County Campus in Rathnew that would strengthen links to the film industry.
An application has been submitted to Enterprise Ireland for the funding to carry out the works, which will include a new conference centre, private offices and a courtyard.
Acccording to reports, the enterprise hub will be centred around the development of a courtyard and focus on content creation for the film industry, particularly for the nearby Ardmore and Ashford studios.
Under the plans, the courtyard cottages will be refurbished and converted for office use.
The courtyard storage outbuildings will be upgraded and unused farm outbuildings to the north of the courtyard will be demolished to allow for the construction of a new two-storey office building, which will form the main entrance to the enterprise hub.
A former dormitory on the second floor level will be refurbished and turned into office use. Meanwhile, the chapel at Wicklow County Campus, which was formerly the home of Clermont Lady’s School (pictured below) until its closure in 2005, will be transformed into a conference centre.
