A new 16-bedroom guesthouse will open in the coming weeks on Bray’s Main Street opposite the Royal Hotel.
Called Firefly, it will be aimed at the Airbnb market and will be part of the group behind, The Martello, The Harbour and Platform Pizza.
Planning permission for the development was granted in February of this year and work began in recent weeks.
According to the planning permission submitted on behalf of Multilane Limited, it will involve “change of use from existing restaurant and residential use to a café / retail unit at ground floor level and a guest house of 16 bedrooms over ground, first and second floors, a second second floor rear extension of 62sqm”.
The site at 114 Main Street, one of the last buildings before the Dargle Bridge, has been empty for several years and is next door to Galito Restaurant.
