Rich List 2020: Wicklow’s wealthiest people feature in Top 100
Some of Wicklow’s wealthiest people have featured in a new ‘Rich List’ published today.
Enniskerry-based Ken Rohan (76) was named Wicklow’s richest person with an estaimted €364 million fortune in the list published in today’s Sunday Independent.
Mr Rohan, who has seen his wealth rise by €38 million since last year, and his family own the Rohan Holdings Property Group, whose parent is Airspace Investments. He came 58th on the list of Ireland’s wealthiest people.
His fortune was eclipsed by some other well-known business people who have strong links to the Garden County.
Wicklow-born Terry Clune, the founder of Kilkenny-based Taxback Group of businesses, came 46th on the list with an estimated wealth of €445 million, a significant jump of €40 million in the space of just one year.
Meanwhile. the Weston family, who lived in a magnificent 17th century estate on Roundwood before a kidnapping attempt by the Provisional IRA in 1983, came second overall on the latest rich list with a whopping €8.6 billion fortune.
Galen and Hilary Weston (pictured above), who own Brown Thomas, Selfridges and Loblaw, Canada’s biggest grocery chain, saw their wealth soar by an estimated €1.5 billion over the past 12 months.
