Build it and they will come: Wicklow Montessori Primary School are Lego champs

Brick-by-brick they built their lead … Wicklow Montessori Primary School have won the LEGO All-Ireland Final and will now head off to the USA to represent Ireland.

Twenty teams of young engineers battled it out to be LEGO League champions  at the weekend in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry in Dublin but it was the team lead by Oscar, Ella, James, Elsha, Luka, Bluebell and Amy from Wicklow who triumphed.

The science and technology challenge, which is aimed at 11-16 year olds, tasks teams to build a robot to tackle a series of missions, and create an innovative solution to a real world problem.

This year’s ‘City Shaper’ challenge saw students learn more about architecture and the spaces we live in, while demonstrating their skills in robotics, computer programming, teamwork, research, problem solving and communication.
