County Wicklow town plugged into €500m investment for new data centre
A county Wicklow town is set to benefit from an investment of up to €500 million after a company confirmed plans to set up a second major data centre there.
Echelon Data Centres has agreed to purchase a 60-acre site at the Kish Business Park in Arklow, which will be developed in two phases.
The development will include the construction of a 450,000 sq ft data centre. Its original Arklow data centre, located at the Avoca River Park, is set to create 450 construction jobs, followed by another 90 positions to operate the facility.
A spokesman for Echelon told The Sunday Independent: “Echelon Data Centres can confirm that it has agreed to purchase a site on the Kish Business Park as part of expansion plans to be a major owner and operator of data centres throughout Europe.”
