COVID-19: The story so far in Wicklow – 22 confirmed cases, no deaths
There are now 22 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Wicklow, but so far there has been no fatalities in the country due to Covid-19.
Numbers will continue to rise in every part of the country in the coming days with a spike expected as increasing number of tests get underway.
A test centre has been set up in Wicklow Town, although more entres in local HSE buildings or in GAA clubs are expected to be announced over the coming days and weeks.
There is also a number of test centres in neighbouring Dublin, Carlow, and Wexford including one of Ireland’s biggest test centres in the 82,000 seater stadium Croke Park.
Tinryland GAA club, which can be seen from the M9 motorway, has been selected for testing in Carlow.
The South East is also well covered with the Wexford centre set-up in an industrial estate near Clonard, which will be a drive-through test centre.
Wicklow currently accounts for 3% of all coronavirus cases in Ireland but with more testing set to get underway that number is expected to rise.
