Developers resubmit plans seeking to add more houses to Rathnew estate

The company behind a new housing estate in a county Wicklow town have gone back to the county council with revised plans for their already approved development, doubling the amount of houses to be built on the site.

The development, located at Clermont in Rathnew, had previously been granted full planning permission for 36 units consisting of 16 houses and 20 apartments along with a retail unit and a cáfe unit.

Now developers, Cedarbrick Limited, have submitted revised plans to Wicklow County Council in regards the site locked between the R761 and R772 roads on the outskirts of Rathnew, requesting permission to majorly alter the plans.

The resubmitted plans are looking to expand the amount of accommodation units, increasing the amount on houses on the site and reducing the number of apartments from the previously approved permission.

The revised application is looking to create 32 new houses consisting of two four-bedroom semi- detached, two-storey houses; 15 three-bedroom semi-detached and detached two-storey houses, and 15 two-bedroom terraced two-storey houses.

The apartments will consist of four one-bedroom studio apartments at ground floor level; two two-bedroom first floor apartments; and two two-bedroom second floor apartments.

A decision on the application is due by the end of July.
