Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady has expressed disappointment at the decision of the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Eamon Ryan TD not to allocate any funding to Wicklow to progress Greenways in the County.

The Green Party Minister recently announced funding of €4.5 million to 26 Greenway Projects.

The funding was allocated under the Carbon Tax Fund 2020 and provides support for feasibility, planning and design for Greenways around the country.

Deputy Brady said “It’s really disappointing that Wicklow has been completely overlooked by the Government for any funding to develop Greenway projects in the County.

“Recently the Green Party Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Eamon Ryan TD announced funding of €4.5 million to 26 Greenway Projects.

“The funding was allocated under the Carbon Tax Fund 2020 and provides support for feasibility, planning and design for Greenways around the country.

“There were two applications for funding from Wicklow, one was for the Eastcoast Greenway connecting Wicklow Town to Greystones and secondly was the Arklow to Shillelagh Greenway, funding to progress both projects was unfortunately turned down.”
