Down the line: Irish Rail plan new development at busy Wicklow commuter station
Major changes are on track for a busy commuter station in county Wicklow.
Irish Rail has hinted at a major future development at their Bray station after asking for permission to clear a site on the station’s grounds.
Wicklow County Council recently received an application from the national rail provider requesting permission to flatten three derelict buildings on lands owned by Irish Rail close to the station.
The plans received by the council request the “demolition of three (number) derelict dwelling houses adjacent to Bray Station in anticipation of future development of the site”.
The site runs parallel to the entrance of the station’s carpark and is at the junction of Albert Walk, Florence Road and Albert Avenue.
The application makes no reference to what the future development might be.
A decision by the local authority is due by the end of June and submissions are being accepted from the public until June 8.
