Driver high on cocaine crashes car after attempting to flee gardai at Wicklow checkpoint
Gardai in Wicklow arrested a disqualified driver high of cocaine who crashed his car after he failed to stop at a checkpoint in the county last night.
The drama unfolded after the driver refused to stop at the checkpoint on the N11 near Ashford.
He drove onto a back road in a bid to evade gardai but later crashed into a dtich (see picture below).
A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Driver failed to stop but crashed on nearby back road. Driver currently disqualified from driving. Tested positive for cocaine and benzodiazepines.”
Despite the Covid-19 emergency, local gardai warned: “Our presence and visibility is higher than ever.”
