Former Fire Station to be demolished in county Wicklow town to make way for seven social houses
The old Fire Station in a county Wicklow town could be demolished to make way for seven rapid delivery social houses.
The development of seven two-bedroom homes at Back Street, Hudsons’s Square, Abbeylands in Arklow has been put forward by Wicklow County Council.
The terraced house development has been designed to conform with guidelines for Rapid Delivery Houses and would see the old Fire Station knocked to create the space for the development.
According to the plans submitted by the council last week, there is an urgent need for social housing in Arklow as the council currently has 1,094 applications for social housing.
Submissions on the proposal can be lodged until April 14 and a decision on the development is due on April 21.
