Gardai hunt for hoaxer who called out Greystones Coast Guard during storm
Gardai are hunting for a hoax caller who put the lives of Wicklow rescuers at risk during Storm Ciara recently.
Greystones Coast Guard Unit received a call on February 9 saying a man had fallen down a cliff along the Bray Head Cliff Walk.
Wicklow Fire Service and local Gardaí and the Coast Guard then began a search of the area but ultimately declared it a hoax call.
“This hoax call put the lives of our volunteer crews and those of our colleagues in the Fire Service and local Gardaí in danger during a storm warning,” the Coast Guard said. ”
Gardaí are taking this very seriously and are investigating.”
