Gardai investigating event in Galway over possible breaches of Covid-19 restrictions
An investigation into alleged Covid-19 health breaches at an event that was held in county Galway earlier this week, has been launched.
An Garda Síochána has confirmed they are investigating the circumstances surrounding an event August 19, 2020 which they say they will not be “confirming the identity of any individual premises or person,” at this point.
The investigation has been launched into alleged breaches of The Health Act 1947 (Section 31A-Temporary Restrictions) (COVID-19) (No.3) Regulations 2020 as amended.
A statement just released said: “An Garda Síochána is investigation inter alia breaches of Regulation 5 Restriction on Events “a person shall not organise, or cause to be organised”
“Where potential breaches of the Public Health Regulations are identified a file is submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a direction as to how to proceed.
“Public Health guidelines on Social distancing and management of events are not penal provisions,” the statement concluded.
