IN PICTURES: ‘I want to thank an amazing group of boys for giving their all’ – Pres Bray pay tribute as Juniors knocked out of cup
Presentation College Bray bowed out of the Leinster Junior Cup 17-12 to Cistercian College, Roscrea in heartbreaking style yesterday after a spirited game that could have gone either way.
And the school has paid tribute by thanking the team who won the League title in December saying they had set “a standard that we hope future sides can try and match”.
The Bray school dominated the game in the final quarter by chance after chance but could not take them as Roscrea from Offaly.
“It wasn’t to be for the Juniors as they went down fighting to an excellent Roscrea side in the closest of battles,” a statement from Pres Bray Rugby said.
“17-12 down, we peppered the line for the last 10 minutes and just could not get over for the levelling score. It really was a game for the ages.
“While defeat, ends the year on a low note it needs to be taken in the context of what was a stunning continuance of a return to form for our Junior Cup sides.
“A league win, some huge performances and development of a large pool of players means we have continued hope for a resurgence at Senior level in the coming years.
“That the boys are so humble and hardworking in defeat and victory says much for the environment they experience both at home and in school.
“So on behalf of the school I want to thank captain Finn Treacy and an amazing group of boys and their coaches for giving their all for Pres. The JCT 2020 left their mark and set a standard that we hope future sides can try and match.”
