Knife-wielding mugger chased terrified Wicklow teen onto busy M50: report
A terrified Wicklow teenager ran onto the busy M50 traffic to escape a knife-wielding mugger, according to reports.
The alleged incident took place at the Glencairn Luas stop in Leopardstown, Dublin 18, at approximately 2.40pm on December 29.
A Garda spokesperson said: “The male, aged in his late teens, who was allegedly assaulted fled the Luas stop and was observed running between junctions 14 and 15 on the M50. No injuries were reported.”
A post shared on social media claimed three teenagers from Bray got off the Luas at Glencairn when they were approached by a man aged in his early 20s who then pulled a knife on the boys and demanded their wallets.
It is claimed the three boys fled the scene in different directions. The alleged attacker chased one teenager into Mount Eagle Drive, Leopardstown Heights Green from the Sandyford exit onto the M50 and across six lanes of traffic.
The post added the boy desperately tried to flag cars for assistance. When one car eventually stopped, the alleged attacker is said to have fled the scene in the direction of Leopardstown Racecourse.
Anyone with information about the alleged assault is urged to contact their local Garda station.
