Brrrr … More ice and snow on way for Wicklow as Met Éireann extends warning again

There is no end in sight to the snow and ice conditions in county Wicklow as Met Éireann has once more extended its weather warning forecasting more snow overnight.

With conditions still treacherous in parts of the county and the Old Military Road and the Roundwood/Manor Kilbride Rd (R759) still closed over the Sally Gap, the national forecaster has extended its weather warning into tomorrow morning.

It was expected the wintry conditions would pass by this morning and the warning expire. However, it looks like these conditions are set to continue.

Met Éireann said as part of its Status Yellow – Snow/Ice warning for Wicklow the national forecaster said: “Icy in parts tonight with wintry outbreaks. Some snow accumulations possible before morning, mainly across the north and on higher ground elsewhere.”

This new warning comes into effect at 8pm this evening and will remain in place until 10am tomorrow morning.
