Plan for primary care centre in county Wicklow town gets green light
The long running saga surrounding the provision of a primary healthcare centre in Arklow could finally be reaching a conclusion after planning permission to construct a scaled-down development was granted by the local authority.
Wicklow County Council has approved amended plans for Arklow’s Primary Healthcare Centre to be built at the former Bolands Builder Providers site at Castle Park.
Esmonde Developments Limited lodged the amended plans to the local authority late last year. This came after the developer who had previously lodged plans to build the centre pulled out of the process after it had stalled.
The council has now approved Esmonde Development’s slightly scaled down plans which would see the overall height of the centre reduced from five-stories to four with an overall reduced footprint and floor area.
The building will have a revised internal layout, while the number of retail units will be reduced from three to just one.
