No tax, no insurance and banned: Driver stopped at checkpoint had two young children under five in car not wearing seatbelts
People who flout the law while driving in Wicklow during the Covid-19 emergency will be caught by the gardai.
That’s the message from the local gardai who managed to catch a driver who was disqualified for four years in 2019 at a Covid-19 checkpoint in Laragh.
There were also two children under the age of five who were not wearing seatbelts while all the documents on the car were out of date and the insurance disc was for a different car.
In a statement on the Garda Siochana Wicklow Facebook page, it said: “Lots of Covid-19 checkpoints today. Thanks for the patience and co-operation.
“All the documents on this car which was stopped in Laragh were out of date and the insurance disc was for a different car. It transpired the driver of the car was disqualified for four years in 2019.
“There were two young children less than 5 years old unsecured in the car. Car seized and a court date to follow.”
