Planning sought for residential and retail development in Newcastle village
The local authority has received plans looking to construct a mixed retail and residential development in the centre of a county Wicklow village.
Developer John Murhpy, is looking for permission to develop nine new residential units and a retail unit between Main Street and Leabeg Street in Newcastle.
As part of the development, four new four-bed semi-detached two-storey dwelling units would be built alongside, a two-bed apartment, three, three -bed terraced dwellings, and a two-bed, two-storey detached dwelling unit. A ground floor commercial unit would also be created as part of the plans.
The developer would also create two new pedestrian accesses to the village from Main Street and Leabeg Road and a new vehicular entrance from Main Street.
A decision on the application is expected by the start of October.
