Splashing out: Six Wicklow charities share €11,000 following New Year swim

That’s one way of making a splash – Bray’s Lions Club presented six local voluntary organisations with cheques totalling €11,000 which was raised from their annual New Year’s Day sea swim.

The presentations were made at a reception in the Esplanade Hotel Bray on February 27 where volunteers from SVP Bray, Sunbeam House Dignity Packs, Ark Housing Association, St Fergal’s Resource Centre, Little Bray Family Resource Centre and Liberty Church Homeless Charity were on hand to receive their cheques.

Danny Bohan, president of Bray Lions Club said that this year’s recipients represented six outstanding causes and added to the list of more than more than 45 local charities which have been supported by the Sea Swim over its 37 years.

The total funds raised by the Bray Lions New Year’s Day Sea Swim now exceed €366,000.

President Danny thanked more than 300 swimmers who participated this year as well as the many sponsors, support services and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.

He also thanked the management and staff of the Esplanade Hotel hosted the 2020 Sea Swim.
