SPONSORED: Wicklow candidate Andrew Doyle is the poster boy for recycling
Politicians have been accused on occasion of recycling promises and plans but Wicklow TD Andrew Doyle has gone one better and shown he is a man of his word by recycling his old election posters.
The Fine Gael candidate, who was Minister for State for Agriculture in the last Dail, has decided to re-use his posters from the 2016 General Election and relabel them with environmentally friendly stickers instead of acquiring new ones.
“To demonstrate my passion and values surrounding the environment, I am putting my plans into action by reusing 1,000 posters from previous elections,” he says.
“I am committed to sustainability in order to address climate change.
“My delivery of Ireland’s national statement to the ‘High Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development’ has informed my views on climate change.
“Having become aware of Ireland’s responsibility in this area some years ago, I took steps to reduce my own carbon footprint at election time some years ago and on this occasion new labels and stickers have been used, combating harmful single use plastics.
“As a farmer, I’m fortunate to have space in my shed at home and this is where I can store my old posters.”
