‘Stay home’ – Status Orange Forest Fire warning sparks urgent appeal from Wicklow Fire Service
County Wicklow Fire Service has urged people to obey the Covid-19 restrictions and “stay home” after the Department of Agriculture issued a Status Orange Forest Fire warning.
In a statement on social media, the local fire services warned people not to venture into forest walks or go hiking in uplands while the warning is in place.
A spokesperson said: “Based on recent incidents, most ignition risks appear to be associated with illegal burning of upland vegetation.
“Support fire services in this difficult time. They go to work so you can stay home.”
