Surge in new homes built across Wicklow this year: CSO
The upward surge of completed new residential units in county Wicklow continued into the first three months of the year, new figures reveal.
Some 223 new builds were completed in the city and county in the first quarter of 2020, according to figures published today by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
There has been a sharp increase in residential completions since the beginning of 2019. Some 1,078 new residential units were completed in the Garden County last year.
Between 2012 and the third quarter of 2019, new builds were coming in at just between 20% and 40% of the current figures. The lowest recorded number of completions was in quarter 1, 2012, when just 23 new builds were completed in county.
In the first three months of this year, a total of 183 homes were completed as part of housing schemes, a further 28 were completed as part of single developments, with 12 more completed as part of apartment developments.
The CSO use the ESB Networks new domestic connections as their primary source for new dwellings completions figures.
