The Fool on the Hill: Driver travels from Kildare to Wicklow’s Sugarloaf ‘because I’ve never climbed it’
A motorist from Kildare was sent packing from Wicklow this week after Gardai confronted them on the slopes of the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain.
Asked why they had travelled from the next county, the driver replied “because I’ve never climbed it”.
And this was not the only stupid excuse given to the boy and girls in blue – when a driver was stopped at a Covid-19 checkpoint in the Murrough in Wicklow Town they replied that they “needed WD40 for a squeaky door”.
Gardai pointed out on their Facebook page that neither of these excuse are reasons for essential travel.
