Tragedy at Powerscourt waterfall as teenage boy is killed in fall
A teenager has died after he suffered a fall at Powerscourt waterfall.
The tragedy occurred at approximately 2.30pm yesterday.
Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene of the fatal accident at the country’s largest waterfall at the Powerscourt Estate, House and Gardens.
It is understood the teenage boy slipped and fell. He was pronounced dead the scene. His bodywas removed to the mortuary at St. Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown, for a post-mortem examination.
Wicklow TD and Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris offered his condolances to the teeager’s devastated family.
Minister Harris said on Twitter: “Such sad news emerging in County Wicklow from our beautiful Powerscourt this evening. Thoughts of all our community are with the family and friends of the teenager. Thank you to the Irish Coast Guard.”
