Homes in Bray and Rathdrum without power following Storm Atiyah

Despite not bearing the brunt of Storm Atiyah, there were still severe disruptions around Wicklow that caused power outages and brought down trees.

ESB network engineers are still working to return power to 75 houses, some have been without power since yesterday evening.

In Rathdrum, 66 houses are without power at the moment, the ESB hope to have this restored by noon. A number of houses on the Boghall Road in Bray have been without power since early yesterday evening. Again the ESB expect to have this fixed early this afternoon.

Wicklow County Council staff are out in force around the county this morning working to remove fallen trees from the roads. Council staff have just cleared a fallen tree on the R575 Rathdrum to Laragh Road.

The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government released a statement this morning asking people in Wicklow to drive with caution. The statement said: “Please be careful when driving this morning. Crews are out clearing roads after Atiyah. Fallen trees, poles and debris have been reported on a number of roads in counties Kerry, Sligo, Wicklow, Kilkenny and Longford and ESB Networks are repairing fallen power lines.
