When the music’s over: Wicklow record store closes doors after 40 years in business
A popular Wicklow music store which has provided the soundtrack to many lives in the county closed its doors for the final time over the weekend.
Track One on Wicklow town’s Main Street has been bringing music and film to locals for 40 years. However, the decision was recently made to close the on-street business where they have been nestled in a picturesque part of town since the early 80s.
The store, which sold instruments as well as vinyl, CDs, DVDs and much more finally closed its doors yesterday afternoon. It is believed the challenging retail climate, competing with online vendors and falling footfall in the town were some of the factors in owner Sean Olahan’s decision to close the store.
However, it’s not all bad news for local music lovers as Track One will continue to operate as an online business.
