Wicklow community projects awarded €150,000 in Covid support funding

Two Wicklow community programmes have received almost €150,000 in new funding to help them continue their good work throughout the pandemic.

They are among 209 organisations across the country to benefit from €11 million worth of funding under the third tranche of the Covid-19 Stability Fund announced by the Government today.

The Stability Scheme provides immediate, short term cash flow to organisations who deliver critical services to those most vulnerable in society and have seen their trading or fundraising income drop significantly during the crisis.

The local projects that will benefit from the initial tranche of funding are:
*The Hub Community Shop and Cafe (€11,823);
*Tiglin Challenge (€136,490).

The funding was announced today by Minister for Social Protection, Rural and Community Development and the Islands, Heather Humphreys, today.

Minister Humphreys said: “I am very aware of the valuable contribution of the Community and Voluntary sector in general. This is particularly the case as Ireland navigates its way through this pandemic.

“I hope that this funding will help to support these organisations to continue to provide their valuable services to the people most in need and support individuals and communities as we work our way through the impact of the pandemic.”
