Wicklow in lockdown: Gardai praise public’s efforts in war on Covid-19
Wicklow gardai have praised the efforts of people across the county for adhering to the Government’s lockdown measures to combat the spread of Covid-19.
Local gardai said residents have generally been diligent in complying with the strict new rules announced on Friday night.
Gardai stress people are performing “a great public service” by remaining indoors throughout the emergency.
Wicklow gardai said on social media: “We wish to thank all those who have stayed indoors. We are here to help you, if you need us, please let us know. Stay Safe.”
Wicklow gardai took to social media to show the difference a week makes, posting pictures of empty roads and streets. They did, however, have to remind cyclists over the weekend that although they are riding alone, bikes must also comply with the new guidelines.
As part of the stricter guidelines put in place by the Government, people have been asked not to leave their homes, except for in a limited number of situations up until Easter Sunday, April 12.
