Wicklow tourism initiatives receive €150,000 in state funding
A county Wicklow project aimed at getting people active is to benefit from more than €150,000 in funding.
The North Wicklow Trail Network project is to receive €152,556 to develop a long-distance trail from Bray to Woodenbridge which will include path construction, drainage, fencing, and all signage.
The investment in projects around the county under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme was announced over the weekend by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The trail will be of great benefit to tourism in North county Wicklow and will incorporate numerous villages along the route.
The North Wicklow Trail Network is among 35 nationally to get funding for medium-sized projects under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme which provides funding for the development of new outdoor recreational infrastructure and for the maintenance, enhancement or promotion of existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas across Ireland.
