WICKLOW WEATHER: Better late than never – Spring has finally sprung!

Spring, it appears, has finally sprung!

Yesterday images flashed across social media like wildfire after thousands of people descended on popular beauty spots across Wicklow, ignoring Covid-19 warnings about the need to maintain social distancing.

The weather was obviously a major factor as rare blue skies and sunshine resulted in an exodus outdoors.

People are being urged not to congregate in large numbers in public this week, and they may find themselves tempted as we can look forward to mostly dry and settled conditions over the coming days.

Met Éireann said today will be a dry day with the “best of the sunny spells” in the east and south of the country and highest temperatures of between 9 to 13 degrees.

Tomorrow will be a breezy but sunny day in this part of the country, which is likely to escape the outbreaks of rain in the west of the country and highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

However this rain will slowly spread across the west during the night and slowly move further east on Wednesday with drier and brighter weather developing in the west later.

Met Éireann said: “Rain may linger in the southeast on Wednesday night, but elsewhere it looks like it will be a dry night with some frost.”

The national forecaster added: “Thursday and Friday will be colder days, but it looks like there will be a lot of dry and sunny weather.”
