WICKLOW WEATHER: Spring sun leaves us basking in glow of splendid self-isolation

The year-high temperatures we’ve basked in over the past two days will drop today, but we can still look forward to a dry weekend with lots of sunny spells from the comfort of our self-induced isolation.

Met Éireann has given a largely upbeat forecast for Wicklow and the rest of the country over the weekend and into next week as the country goes into partial lockdown in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Today will be a dry day with a mix of cloud and sunshine and highest temperatures between 8 to 14 degrees.

Tomorrow will also be dry, with a mix of cloud and sunny spells and we can look forward to brighter skies later in the day. Met Éireann warned there may be a few light “passing showers” in eastern counties, with highest temperatures of between 7 to 10 degrees.

Temperatures will dip further on Sunday, which will have a cold start as overnight frost clears.

The national forecaster said: “Overall dry with bright spring sunshine but feeling cool throughout. Highest temperatures will range 7 to 9 degrees, in moderate northerly breezes. Cold after-dark, with some frost; overnight lows of 0 to 4 degrees, in light northerly breezes. The odd wintry shower may drift into northern parts.

Early next week will be mainly dry, but also cool, with more cloud than sunshine and a few light passing showers.
